Accidental gunfire at Kainuu Brigade exposes 33 conscripts to blast noise

A weapon accidentally discharged during a training exercise at the Kainuu Brigade in Kajaani on Wednesday, exposing 33 conscripts to the blast noise of a live round, according to a statement from the Finnish Army.

The incident occurred at 14:45 local time during light machine gun training at the Hoikanportti firing range. The weapon fired while a soldier was loading it under the supervision of military personnel.

No injuries were reported, but all exposed conscripts have been referred for hearing tests. The brigade has launched an internal investigation into the incident.

The Kainuu Brigade is a Finnish Army unit responsible for training conscripts in northern Finland.
