Faroese coalition parties finalise government agreement ahead of Monday announcement
The Faroese parties Fólkaflokkurin, Sambandsflokkurin, and Javnaðarflokkurin have reached an agreement on forming a new coalition government, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports. A press conference will be held Monday morning to present the coalition agreement.
Negotiations concluded Thursday, with the three parties aligning on how ministerial portfolios will be distributed. The parties will meet again later today before the official announcement.
On Monday, the Faroese parliament (Løgtingið) will convene at 10:00, presided over by its oldest member, 73-year-old Jenis av Rana. The session will formally validate the results of the March 26 parliamentary elections, confirm the credentials of elected members, and elect a new speaker and three deputy speakers.
