Man arrested at Faroe Islands airport with drugs concealed internally
A foreign national was detained at Vágar Airport in the Faroe Islands on Tuesday evening after arriving from Denmark, suspected of smuggling drugs internally, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Customs officials grew suspicious during the man’s arrival and referred him for medical examination at the national hospital in Tórshavn. Scans confirmed the presence of concealed drugs inside his body, though authorities have not disclosed the quantity or type of substance involved.
The man, whose age and nationality have not been released, is not a Faroese citizen. Prosecutors are now deciding whether to request pre-trial detention or an expedited trial.
Police have declined to provide further details about the case.
