The director of the Satakunta branch of Finland’s National Coalition Party has been dismissed, with the position to be filled over the summer, according to a party statement.

Antti Ahonen’s employment as regional director will end at the end of May, the party announced. The recruitment process for a successor will begin in April.

Local media Satakunnan Kansa reports that Ahonen was fired, a claim confirmed to public broadcaster Yle by the branch’s chair, Johanna Siitari.

Ahonen first took up the role in 2018 but was on leave in 2023–2024 while serving as municipal manager of Humppila. He returned as regional director in October 2024.

The new director, to be selected this spring, will play a key role in preparing for next year’s parliamentary elections, the party’s secretary, Maggie Keskinen, stated.
