Faroese complaints tribunal resolves first case with five legal experts
The Faroese complaints tribunal, Kærustovnurin, has for the first time involved five legal experts in reviewing and resolving a single case, according to its 2025 annual report.
The case in question was a tax and duty dispute deemed particularly significant under administrative law. The tribunal received a high number of complaints last year—441 in total—and resolved 440, with nearly all cases settled within one month. All complaints filed in 2025 have now been processed, leaving only cases from 2026 pending.
An unusually high number of complaints—25—concerned psychiatric patient cases in 2025, marking the highest figure since the tribunal began handling such appeals in 2009.
