Traffic in Faroese undersea tunnels exceeds expectations
Traffic through the Sandoy Tunnel has grown significantly beyond initial projections, according to new figures reported by Faroese public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
The average daily traffic in March reached 1,041 vehicles, up from 1,013 in February and 959 in March last year. The Eysturoy Tunnel saw even higher numbers, with a daily average of 6,707 vehicles in March—compared to 6,485 in February and 6,328 in the same month last year.
Traffic also increased in the Vágar and Norðoyar tunnels from February to March, though figures remained roughly the same as in March of the previous year.
