Three more men to be remanded in Trondheim death investigation
Three additional men will appear in court for remand hearings in connection with a suspicious death in Trondheim, Adresseavisen reports. One man has already been remanded in custody following the incident.
A man in his 30s was found dead in a Trondheim residence on Good Friday. Four men were arrested and charged in what police describe as a suspicious death. On Monday, a 30-year-old man was remanded for two weeks on suspicion of kidnapping or complicity in kidnapping, and abandonment of a person in a helpless state or complicity in such an act. The deceased was discovered in the suspect’s home.
Prosecutor Anne Haave confirmed to Adresseavisen that three more men will face remand hearings at Trøndelag District Court on Tuesday. “We are requesting two weeks of pre-trial detention for all three,” Haave said.
Police were alerted to the death via the emergency medical communication centre early on Good Friday morning. Due to the circumstances, an investigation was launched. The 30-year-old suspect’s defence lawyer, Knut-Erik Storlykken Søvik, told Nettavisen on Monday that his client denies criminal responsibility and seeks release.
The three additional men—one in his 40s and two in their 20s—were also charged in the case. The 20-year-old and one of the 40-year-olds face allegations of leaving a person in a helpless state and unlawful deprivation of liberty, or complicity in these acts. Their defence lawyers, Sigrun Dybad and Kolbjørn Lium, confirmed to Dagbladet that both clients deny the charges. A second man in his 40s is charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty or complicity. His lawyer has not yet commented publicly.
