The three Faroese political parties negotiating a new transport policy proposal aim to finalise the draft by Tuesday, following renewed talks, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Beinir Johannesen, representing the People’s Party (Fólkaflokkurin), expressed optimism that the coalition—comprising the People’s Party, the Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin), and the Union Party (Sambandsflokkurin)—will resolve outstanding issues after talks stalled over the Easter holiday. While discussions paused during the break, Johannesen confirmed that informal contact continued, with broad agreement already reached on “two or three major points.”

Once the draft is complete, negotiations will shift to policy exchanges and the distribution of ministerial portfolios, he added.

The parties have been in prolonged discussions over the structure of the Faroese government, including whether to maintain or expand the current number of cabinet ministers.
