Easter return traffic flows smoothly as early departures and breaks help drivers
Easter holiday return traffic has proceeded without major disruptions, according to Finnish traffic agency Fintraffic and drivers interviewed in Orivesi, reports Yle.
The busiest day for return trips was Monday, with peak congestion in the afternoon. Traffic is expected to remain steady until around 7 pm.
Drivers shared their strategies for a smooth journey. Jyväskylä residents Mona Takalo and Nikke Varis, returning from Tromsø, Norway, emphasized the importance of taking regular breaks. “It’s worth stopping often on long trips,” Varis advised.
Jani Suurnäkki, traveling with his family from Eurajoki, avoided congestion by leaving early. He recommended patience and packing snacks for children. “If there are delays, take it easy,” he said.
Weather conditions varied, with rain in Orivesi and sleet or snow elsewhere, but road conditions remained normal. Aapeli Kyyrä, returning from Somero, noted his trip had gone smoothly. “It’ll likely stay that way,” he said.
