Emergency services responded to an avalanche in Hemsedal, southern Norway, on Monday morning, with four people caught in the slide, Dagbladet reports.

Police confirmed at 12:06 PM that all four individuals had been located, though the extent of their injuries remains unclear. Life-saving first aid was being administered at the scene, according to the South-Eastern Norway Police District.

The avalanche was reported shortly before 11:30 AM, prompting a rescue operation involving organised volunteers, helicopters, avalanche dogs, medical personnel, and air ambulance teams. Rescue coordinator Roger Aaser told Dagbladet that specialists trained in avalanche terrain were assisting in the operation.

Significant avalanche risk persists across parts of southern Norway. On Easter Sunday, police warned against all travel in the Gaustatoppen area after multiple avalanches were reported.
