A major search operation is ongoing in the North Sea off Stavanger after reports that a man fell overboard into the sea, Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre for Southern Norway confirmed it received an emergency call at 16:02 local time on Sunday. “A rescue helicopter has been dispatched from Sola, and nearby vessels are en route to the location. A mayday alert has been issued,” rescue leader Jan Erik Skårpe told Dagbladet.
