Easter travel runs smoothly on Good Friday
Easter holiday traffic has proceeded without major incidents on Good Friday, according to Finland’s traffic operator Fintraffic.
Ossi Riikonen of Fintraffic’s road traffic centre reported around 2 p.m. that no accidents had occurred and traffic had been flowing well. “It’s been very smooth,” he stated.
Traffic volumes peaked between 11 a.m. and noon, reaching levels comparable to Maundy Thursday, but eased by the afternoon. The busiest routes included Highway 3 between Helsinki and Lahti and Highway 4 between Helsinki and Hyvinkää.
Riikonen noted that road conditions were ideal, with no rain or strong winds. “Perfect driving weather!” he described.
Return traffic is expected to begin on Sunday afternoon, with the heaviest flows anticipated on Monday.
