Man released from custody in suspected homicide of missing woman in Laukaa
The 81-year-old man arrested last week on suspicion of murdering his wife in Laukaa, central Finland, has been released from custody, police confirmed on Friday.
According to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle, the man—an ophthalmologist and entrepreneur—was detained by the Central Finland District Court on suspicion of killing his 68-year-old wife, whose body was found after she was reported missing in the Tarvaala area of Laukaa between March 11 and 13.
Police stated that ongoing investigations no longer provided grounds for detention. Authorities have conducted extensive searches and inquiries over the past week, though the pre-trial investigation remains active.
For investigative reasons, police declined to disclose further details at this stage.
