Missing Norwegian man found dead in Warsaw river
A 23-year-old Norwegian man reported missing in Poland last November has been found dead in the Wisła River in Warsaw, police confirmed on Wednesday.
Oliver Rivedal from Sunnfjord was last seen on 22 November during a trip with friends to the Polish capital, according to a report by NRK cited by news agency NTB. His body was later recovered from the river, where surveillance footage showed him slipping and falling into the water.
“After he fell in, he tries to swim to shore but is carried away by the current,” said Oda Elvegård Thorstad, lead investigator at Sunnfjord police station. Authorities had previously determined in December that Rivedal had entered the river and been swept downstream.
The family has consented to the release of his name, Thorstad confirmed to NTB. The case is being treated as an accident.
