Tórshavn municipality aims to become a Nordic leader in environmental policy
The city council of Tórshavn has approved a new environmental policy with three core priorities, including expanded recycling stations in residential areas, reports Kringvarp Føroya.
More waste sorting stations will be introduced in neighbourhoods, reception centres will be repurposed for work activities, and bus routes will be strengthened, according to the policy’s initial measures. Mayor Elsa Berg stated the municipality aims to become one of the leading environmental municipalities in the Nordic region.
The environmental policy is divided into three main areas: nature and biodiversity, emissions and energy, and circular economy and waste management.
