Marine engineering firm Steerprop plans expansion near Rauma port
The Finnish marine engineering company Steerprop is considering an expansion near the Port of Rauma, with the city planning to allocate a 2.2-hectare plot for the project, reports Yle.
Steerprop, which manufactures propulsion systems for ships, is evaluating the construction of new production and office facilities on the site. The company has seen a recent increase in orders, according to a statement from the City of Rauma.
“If realised, the project would support local employment and strengthen Rauma’s position as a hub for marine industry expertise,” said Steerprop CEO Riku-Pekka Hägg in the city’s press release.
The area is adjacent to the operations of shipyard company Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC).
