The Finnish Border Guard has reported spotting an unmanned aerial vehicle on the ice of Lake Pyhäjärvi in Parikkala, southeastern Finland, prompting authorities to cordon off the area for investigation.

According to a statement from the Border Guard, the device was observed Tuesday morning on the Finnish side of the lake, which extends across the border into Russia. The North Karelia Border Guard District has secured the site to ensure evidence preservation.

Authorities have stated there is no immediate danger to the public. While local police are leading the investigation, Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation is supporting on-site operations and assessing whether to launch a separate preliminary probe.

The discovery follows two similar incidents over the weekend, when drones were found in Luumäki and north of Kouvola.
