Teenager arrested after stabbing in Helsinki’s Arabianranta district
A 16-year-old boy has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Helsinki’s Arabianranta district, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon near the Hermanninrantatie tram stop. Police received a report of a violent crime at around 2:30 PM local time, finding a 17-year-old boy who had been stabbed.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities stated that no bystanders were in danger during the incident.
The 16-year-old suspect has been taken into custody on preliminary charges of attempted murder, though the exact charge may change as the investigation proceeds. Police have said they will provide further updates on Tuesday at the earliest.
