Faroese party leaders meet to begin government coalition talks
The newly appointed coalition negotiator, Beinir Johannesen of the People’s Party, has begun meetings with the Faroese political parties to form a new government, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Johannesen, who chairs the People’s Party, will lead the talks after being unanimously selected by the six parliamentary party leaders. The decision was confirmed by Bjørt Samuelsen, a member of the Faroese Parliament (Løgting), following a meeting with the Speaker.
Johannesen has already outlined his initial priorities as the lead negotiator. Further details are expected to be announced in a radio news broadcast at 18:00 local time.
