Faroese prime minister Aksel V. Johannesen resigns
Faroese prime minister Aksel V. Johannesen has resigned from his post, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports. Johannesen announced his decision in a meeting with parliament speaker Bjørt Samuelsen on Saturday morning, stating he would not form a new government.
Johannesen proposed that Beinir Johannesen, a fellow party member, be entrusted with leading coalition negotiations. A meeting of party leaders is scheduled for 11:00 local time to discuss who will oversee the government formation talks.
