Faroese election shows clear shift from left to right
The Faroese parliamentary election results reveal a distinct swing from left-wing to right-wing parties, according to political commentator Jóannes Eidesgaard, reports Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
The centre-right People’s Party gained three seats, bringing its total to nine, while the left-wing Social Democratic Party lost three seats, leaving it with six. Eidesgaard noted that the Social Democrats performed strongly in Suðuroy, likely due to the debate over the Suðuroy Tunnel, but fared poorly in the northern regions.
Eidesgaard described the outcome as a direct shift between the two major political blocs, with the People’s Party’s gains mirroring the Social Democrats’ losses.
