Faroese election candidate allows assistant into voting booth
A candidate in the Faroe Islands’ parliamentary election has decided to bring an assistant into the voting booth, a practice permitted under local rules, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Meiken Salberg Olsen, running in the election, confirmed on Thursday that she would use an assistant while casting her ballot. Faroese law allows voters to be accompanied by an assistant, provided at least one polling station official is also present.
Olsen told KVF she was unaware of this option until today.
The Faroese parliamentary election is currently underway, with polling stations open across the islands.
