The tourism sector on Mykines could be streamlined into a single, unified operation, according to local election candidate Katrina Johannesen, who spoke to Faroese public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya ahead of the Faroese parliamentary elections.

Johannesen, one of 13 eligible voters on the remote island, was born and raised on Mykines, where she now runs a café. While preparing for the upcoming tourist season, she told reporters that transport, agriculture, and tourism were the key issues on voters’ minds as they headed to the polls.

Mykines, known for its dramatic cliffs and puffins, has a small but growing tourism sector. Johannesen’s proposal suggests centralising the industry to improve efficiency, though no further details were provided in the report.
