Ása Olsen elected new leader of Faroese disability rights organisation
Ása Olsen has been formally elected as the new chair of MEGD, the Faroese Association for People with Disabilities, following the organisation’s annual general meeting, reports Kringvarp Føroya.
Olsen, a former long-time leader of the Faroese Health Support Association, had served as acting chair since last year after Ruth Thomsen stepped down. As the sole candidate for the position, Olsen was elected unopposed.
The decision was made during MEGD’s annual meeting, where a new board was also selected. Olsen had previously taken on the acting role when Thomsen resigned in 2025.
