Faroese national church elects new governing council members
The Faroese national church has elected five new members to its governing bodies, with Asbjørn Mikkelsen joining the diocesan council and four others selected for the deanery council, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Asbjørn Mikkelsen was elected to the Føroya stiftstjórn (diocesan council), while Dagbjørt Ó. Hansen, Edvard í Skorðini Joensen, Kathrina L. Holm, and Ulla Bærentsen were chosen for the Próstadømisráðið (deanery council).
Jógvan Fríðriksson, bishop and chair of the election committee, noted that voter turnout was significantly lower than in previous elections but did not provide specific figures.
