Faroese politician breaks all-time vote record in parliamentary election
The Social Democratic Party’s Sjúrður Skaale has set a new record for the most personal votes in a Faroese parliamentary election, receiving 10,823 votes—two and a half times more than the previous high, Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Skaale and Anna Falkenberg of the Union Party both surpassed the long-standing vote record in Tuesday’s election. However, Skaale secured nearly double the votes of Falkenberg, cementing his position as the most popular candidate in the election.
Final results confirmed the outcome after all ballots were counted.
