Skaale set to become Faroe Islands’ longest-serving MP if re-elected
If current polling holds and Sjúrður Skaale secures re-election to the Fólkating (Faroese Parliament), he will become the longest-serving member in its history, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Skaale, a member of the centre-left Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin), has already served four terms—15 years in total. A further three-year term would push his tenure to 19 years, surpassing Óli Breckmann’s record of 17 years (1984–2001), as noted by Kringvarp Føroya political correspondent Sólvit Nolsøe.
