Denmark’s third-largest bridge now open to traffic
The newly constructed Storstrøm Bridge—Denmark’s third-largest—has officially opened to traffic, reports national broadcaster DR.
The 3.2-kilometre bridge connects the islands of Falster and Masnedø, replacing an older structure built in 1937. It features four lanes for vehicles, as well as separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians.
Construction began in 2019, with the project facing delays due to technical challenges and supply chain disruptions. The bridge is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade in the region, including a new railway line set to open in 2025.
