Court hearing begins in Sandá assault case
A five-day trial has opened in the Faroese Court this week over the assault of a woman in Sandá in April 2024, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
A 36-year-old man, a Polish national, stands accused of the attack on 28 April last year. He denies the charges. His defence lawyer, Christina Schønsted, is Danish.
Prosecutors are not seeking imprisonment but have requested preventive detention and the man’s permanent expulsion from the Faroe Islands, citing risk of reoffending.
The defendant has been in custody since shortly after the incident.
