Driver hits child on pedestrian crossing in Espoo and leaves the scene, police seek witnesses
A driver struck a primary school-aged child on a pedestrian crossing in Espoo on Friday and fled the scene, according to West Uusimaa Police. Authorities are now asking for witness accounts of the incident.
The collision occurred around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Kuitinmäentie and Olarinkatu. The child had begun crossing the marked pedestrian crossing when the vehicle hit them, causing the child to fall and sustain minor injuries, police reported.
The car involved is described as black or otherwise dark in colour. Police are urging the driver to come forward and contact authorities. Witnesses to the incident are also asked to provide any relevant information.
