Tórshavn municipality struggles to secure building land in Kollafjørður
The municipality of Tórshavn is facing persistent difficulties in providing building land in Kollafjørður, leaving residents frustrated over the lack of progress, reports Kringvarp Føroya.
For several years, the municipality has attempted to acquire land in the Norðreki area, with an agreement reached with the landowner in December 2023. However, key details—such as the route for a necessary road—remain unresolved.
Negotiations with landowners over the road’s path took place before last summer but have since stalled. The municipality referred the matter to the traffic committee, followed by the building and urban planning committee and the technical committee for a final decision.
Technical directors, urban architects, and civil engineers proposed a road solution and recommended that the municipality proceed without further negotiations with the landowners. The majority in both committees supported the proposal.
Despite this, the issue has repeatedly been delayed. It was listed for the municipal council meeting on 20 November last year but was sent back to committee. The same occurred at the 11 December meeting, where it was ultimately removed from the agenda. At the 19 March council meeting, it was again referred back to committee.
