Two city councillors in Tórshavn have announced plans to formally complain to the municipal oversight board about the mayor’s conduct, Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Tróndur Sigurðsson and Kári Johansen, members of the Tórshavn city council, allege that Mayor Høgni Djurhuus delayed adding an agenda item to a meeting and acted with procedural bias. The dispute centres on a proposed 9,000-square-metre reading centre near the planned university campus at Heygsvegin, on land owned by the national government.

The councillors claim the mayor’s handling of the case—including negotiations with the government over land use and required building permit changes—was improper. They have stated their intention to refer the matter to the Kommunala eftirlitið (Municipal Supervisory Authority) for review.
