Two men, aged 36 and 53, have admitted to a violent home invasion and arson attack in Tórshavn last month, accepting a four-week extension of their pre-trial detention, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The incident occurred on February 18 in a residential building in the Faroese capital. The victim, who was alone at home, suffered severe violence and was set on fire while inside the property. The man managed to alert police himself and was later hospitalised at the national hospital in critical condition.

Both suspects, charged with aggravated assault, intentional arson, and robbery, confessed to the crimes during a preliminary hearing on February 19. Prosecutors and defence lawyers jointly requested the closed-door session. The men have not yet entered formal pleas but voluntarily agreed to the detention extension.

The investigation remains ongoing.
