Former Copenhagen municipal employee sentenced to 3.5 years for selling personal data
A 27-year-old former employee of Copenhagen Municipality has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for illegally accessing and selling personal data from Denmark’s Central Person Register (CPR), DR reports.
The man, who worked at the city’s marriage registration office until summer 2024, accessed the records of over 1,000 residents. He sold some of the data onward, including to individuals linked to criminal networks.
While acquitted of involvement in an attempted murder in Herning, the court found him guilty of aiding a serious assault. The case was heard at Copenhagen City Court.
