Faroese political parties to engage voters in live election debate
A live election debate, known as Trapputingið, will be broadcast Monday evening from Argjahamri in Tórshavn, giving voters in the Faroe Islands a chance to question political representatives ahead of the parliamentary elections, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The event, scheduled for 8:00 PM local time, will be streamed live on television and the broadcaster’s website. It offers voters an opportunity to voice their priorities for the next four years. Representatives from three parties—Birgir Nielsen of the People’s Party (Fólkaflokkurin), Hans Jacob Thomsen of the Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin), and Christoffur Gert Nielsen of the Progress Party (Framsókn)—will participate in the debate from the capital, Tórshavn.
A live blog on Kringvarp Føroya’s website will allow party representatives to respond to statements made during the event. The live blog will go online at 7:00 PM.
The Trapputingið format is not a regular occurrence. Additional debates are planned for March 18 in Klaksvík and March 22 in Oyrasund.
