Iceland’s airport operator Isavia blames construction work for shop closures
Iceland’s state-owned airport operator Isavia has attributed the closure of several shops at Keflavík International Airport to ongoing construction work, according to a report by national broadcaster RÚV.
The company stated that the disruption is temporary and linked to the airport’s expansion project, which includes the development of a new terminal. Isavia did not specify when the affected retail outlets would reopen.
Airport authorities have previously faced criticism from travellers over limited shopping and dining options during the construction period. The expansion is part of a long-term plan to increase capacity at Iceland’s main international gateway.
