Strong winds have ripped parts of the roof off Lambertseter Church in Oslo, with emergency services warning of dangerous conditions across the city, Dagbladet reports.
Police and fire crews are at the scene after the storm tore through the church building on Thursday evening. Witnesses described roof panels being lifted by the wind, exposing insulation underneath.
“Roof panels on the church have come loose in the wind, and the insulation beneath is being ripped away,” said Bjørn-Kristian Bratlie, operations manager for Oslo Fire and Rescue, confirming that outdoor conditions in the city are hazardous.
“There are many places in the city now with loose objects and trees. Right now, there are areas we also consider dangerous for our own crews—those locations we are avoiding for the time being,” Bratlie added.
The storm has prompted warnings about loose debris and falling trees across Oslo, with authorities urging residents to stay indoors where possible.
