Icelandic singer Laufey wins over Glastonbury crowd

Icelandic-Chinese singer Laufey captivated audiences at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday, delivering a performance that drew widespread acclaim from critics and festivalgoers alike.

The 24-year-old artist, known for her jazz-infused pop sound, took the stage at the festival’s Woodsies venue, where she performed tracks from her latest album, *Bewildered*. Her set included fan favourites such as *From the Start* and *California and Me*, as well as a cover of *Lover, You Should’ve Come Over* by Jeff Buckley.

Reviews praised Laufey’s vocal range and stage presence, with *The Guardian* describing her as “a standout act” and *NME* calling the performance “effortlessly elegant.” The singer, who grew up in Reykjavík before moving to the US to study at Berklee College of Music, has seen a rapid rise in popularity since releasing her debut EP in 2021.

Glastonbury, one of the world’s largest music festivals, runs from June 26 to 30 this year, featuring headliners such as Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA. Laufey’s appearance marks her first time performing at the event.
