Northern Alliance party takes lead in North Iceland constituency

The Northern Alliance (Samfylkingin) has emerged as the largest party in the Northwest constituency ahead of Iceland’s parliamentary elections, according to the latest poll by *MMR* for *RÚV*.

The party holds 28.5% support in the region, followed by the Independence Party at 24.3% and the Progressive Party at 17.2%. The Reform Party and the Left-Green Movement register 10.2% and 9.5% respectively, while the People’s Party and the Pirate Party each poll below 5%.

The Northwest constituency covers the Westfjords, North Iceland, and parts of the Highlands, electing nine members to the 63-seat Alþingi.
