A severe storm has struck Iceland, bringing heavy snowfall and creating hazardous driving conditions across the country.

The Icelandic Met Office has issued a weather warning, urging residents to exercise caution. Strong winds, reaching up to 25 meters per second, have been recorded in some areas, while snow drifts have made roads impassable in others.

Police and emergency services have reported numerous accidents and rescues due to the storm. Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to equip their vehicles with winter tires and appropriate safety gear.

The storm is expected to continue throughout the day, with conditions gradually improving by tomorrow morning.

This is the most severe storm to hit Iceland this winter, following a period of relatively mild weather.
