A heavy snowfall has caused significant disruptions to traffic in the northern Icelandic town of Ólafsfjörður. The storm, which began late last night, has left roads impassable in several areas, according to local authorities.

Emergency services have been working throughout the night to clear the roads, but the heavy snowfall has made progress slow. Residents are advised to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

The Icelandic Met Office has warned that the snowfall will continue throughout the day, with accumulations of up to 50 centimetres expected in some areas. Strong winds are also forecast, which could lead to further disruptions.

Ólafsfjörður, a fishing town with a population of around 800, is located in the north of Iceland. The town is known for its dramatic landscape and is a popular destination for tourists seeking to experience Iceland’s natural beauty.
