Denmark’s military has confirmed for the first time that it fired shots at potential drones while a civilian plane was in the air, raising questions about the military’s preparedness and the nature of the drone sightings that caused widespread panic last autumn.

The Danish military has acknowledged firing shots at potential drones while a civilian plane was in the air, marking the first official confirmation of such an incident. The revelation comes amid ongoing investigations into a series of drone sightings that caused significant public alarm and political concern last autumn.

The military’s evaluation, initially scheduled for late February, has been postponed indefinitely, fueling speculation and uncertainty. Key questions remain unanswered, including whether the military shot down any drones and how well-prepared it was to handle “hybrid attacks.”

After months of research, it has been revealed that shots were fired at potential drones while a civilian plane was in the air in the same area. According to information obtained, no targets were hit. The military has provided heavily redacted documents in response to requests for information, citing national security concerns.

The documents indicate that the military observed drones over the Borris shooting range, classifying the incident as a “special event.” However, the details of the drone sightings and the military’s response remain largely obscured.

On the evening of September 28, 2025, the first report of a potential drone was logged in the military’s reporting system. Descriptions of the drone varied, with some reports indicating it moved from south to north and others from north to south. The initial report described it as an “unknown drone” with a “visual ID.”

Subsequent reports provided more details, describing the drone as having a propeller and emitting a white/green light. The military fired several shots with small-caliber ammunition during the half-hour between the observation and the police being notified.

The military has not confirmed whether there were additional shooting incidents. However, it has been reported that the military refused to fly over its own areas during the same period, indicating concerns about the ability to distinguish between drones and other objects.
