New mayor appointed in Ísafjarðarbær as Sigríður Júlía Brynleifsdóttir succeeds Arna Lára Jónsdóttir

Sigríður Júlía Brynleifsdóttir has been appointed the new mayor of Ísafjarðarbær, succeeding Arna Lára Jónsdóttir, who recently won a seat in the national parliament. Arna Lára served as mayor since 2022.
Sigríður Júlía is currently a member of the local council and has held roles such as chair of the council and head of the planning and building committee. Additionally, she has been the principal of a folk school in Flateyri in recent months and previously worked with the Forestry Service.
Sigríður is set to officially take on her responsibilities as mayor on January 7.
