On Friday morning, a bus veered off the road at high speed and collided with trees in Karkkila. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. Emergency services received the call to respond to the incident on Pusulantie at 10:13 AM. The driver was transported to a health center for evaluation, although authorities reported he did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

Esa Salonen, a fire chief from the Western Uusimaa rescue service, noted that the situation could have been far worse, highlighting the luck involved as no passengers were on board. “Had there been other people in the bus, it could have led to a very serious accident,” he remarked.

The section of Pusulantie where the incident occurred has a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour. According to Salonen, the bus struck several large trees during the incident. “It clearly went at full speed,” he added.

One of the fallen trees ended up on top of a power line, which caused a delay in clearing the area until the power utility could disconnect the electricity. It took emergency crews four and a half hours to lift the bus from the ditch.
