According to a recent report, clothing thefts have surpassed mobile phone thefts in statistics, with major brands being the primary target due to their high resale value. Popular items among thieves include jackets from Moncler and Canada Goose, as well as bags and sunglasses from Gucci. Nike Air Jordans are particularly sought after among the youth, with reports indicating that some are even stolen right off individuals.

Recently, police in Oulu apprehended two intoxicated youths suspected of assaulting a passerby and stealing his branded sneakers. In total, the insurance company receives hundreds of claims each year related to clothing theft. While warehouse burglaries remain more common, incidents of street robbery are on the rise. Often, included in these claims are guardians of young victims, as the paperwork frequently indicates a minor was involved.

The holiday season, particularly during the Christmas party period, sees an increase in clothing thefts. Statistics indicate that one insurance provider has received over 800 reports of thefts involving clothing, accessories, and luggage just in the last year. Most of the stolen items consist of suitcases and backpacks, alongside hundreds of individual clothing pieces.

Notable brands affected include Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Guess, with a smaller number of Louis Vuitton bags also reported stolen. While there has been a steady rate of reported clothing thefts in recent years, there is a noticeable spike as the year ends, prompting caution from individuals regarding their valuables. Other insurance companies are similarly receiving claims related to stolen branded clothing, but they assert that the trend is not yet widespread.
