Severe storm Jari has significantly impacted the electricity distribution company Elenia, particularly affecting the regions of Pirkanmaa and Central Finland, though disruptions were reported across all provinces. As of this morning, over 20,000 Elenia customers faced power outages. Safety concerns during the peak of the storm prevented repair teams from addressing the issues overnight.
Now that daylight has returned, repair crews are prepared to commence their work. Communication director Heini Kuusela-Opas stated that restoration efforts will begin as soon as visibility improves. At present, there are no detailed assessments available regarding the extent of the damage or the expected duration of the repairs.
Today’s efforts will prioritize the repair of the medium-voltage backbone network, followed by work on the low-voltage distribution lines.
