A storm named Jariksi has brought significant snowfall to large parts of the country, according to a meteorologist. Today’s driving conditions are particularly poor in many areas. As a low-pressure system with snowfall gradually moves northward throughout Thursday, the heaviest snowfall will concentrate in the central parts of North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu, as well as in western regions during the afternoon. In the southern areas, precipitation has partially transitioned to rain.

By evening, the area of precipitation will continue to shift further north, impacting Lapland primarily during the evening hours. Strong winds are expected to persist, with many western maritime regions experiencing storm-force conditions today.
