Councilor expresses frustration over attendance issues in Vágur municipality

A local councilor has expressed frustration over the continued inability to convene a meeting of the newly elected city council in Vágur municipality. Arni D. Brattaberg emphasized the necessity for council members to attend meetings, stating, “We have no other tools but to call people together and hope the situation improves and that everyone takes this seriously.”

During the latest meeting, seven out of nine council members showed up, an improvement compared to the first meeting where only five attended. However, the absence of two representatives from the Union Party, Levi Mørk and Rakul Nolsøe, was notable. They, along with Bjarni Johansen from the Socialist List, had previously collaborated with the Republic Party to establish a governing majority.

Brattaberg remarked on the changing dynamics, noting, “The situation has shifted; instead of being taken seriously, this matter has turned into a struggle.” He highlighted the importance of participation, particularly criticizing the failure of both representatives from the Socialist List to attend.
