A negotiation session is currently taking place between teachers and the state, along with local municipalities, under the supervision of the national mediator. Inga Rún Ólafsdóttir, chair of the municipalities’ negotiating committee, discussed the situation, stating that while meaningful discussions are underway, it would be an exaggeration to claim significant progress was made the previous day. She expressed hope for a productive day at the negotiating table.

The focus on establishing benchmark groups for teachers in the public sector was set aside, allowing negotiations to resume after a brief pause. Presently, a strike is being observed in ten institutions, including preschools, primary and secondary schools, in addition to one music school.
