Granåsen in Trondheim to host Robbie Williams concert in 2025
Granåsen in Trondheim is set to have a remarkable year in 2025. The venue will not only host elite skiing competitions but also welcome up to 35,000 attendees with the return of British pop star Robbie Williams, who is scheduled to perform on August 16, marking his first show in the city after an eight-year hiatus.
Concert organizer Stein Vanebo of Trondheim Stage has been working to reinstate Granåsen as a concert location since the area was closed for upgrades related to the ski World Championship. The last major concert at Granåsen was in 2019 when Metallica took the stage.
This coming year, Trondheim will also see performances from other prominent artists, including Imagine Dragons and Justin Timberlake, alongside Williams. Vanebo notes that the city has gained a positive reputation among international performers, emphasizing that artists enjoy their time in Trondheim. They often explore the city center, enjoying leisurely activities like having ice cream without feeling rushed.
Granåsen’s concert history is limited, having only hosted a few significant events. The inaugural concert featured Bruce Springsteen in 2016, followed by Williams in 2017 and then Metallica. Vanebo expressed delight that Granåsen will once again host concerts, countering any previous assumptions that the venue’s concert era had ended.
Plans are already underway for logistics, with shuttle buses to facilitate travel between downtown Trondheim and Granåsen during events. In the past, around 27,000 attendees were transported efficiently after the Metallica concert, showcasing the venue’s capability to manage large crowds. Vanebo aims to attract even more high-profile artists to central Norway, aiming for the region to compete for major international acts.
